5 Tips for Beautiful Pregnant Belly Painting Photos!
Our belly painting artists can work their magic, but so much of a maternity belly painting photo shoot relies on mama! Here are our body painters’ tips for a gorgeous maternity belly painting photo shoot:
1. Wait ’til you’re big, but not too big.
You want your belly to be big and beautiful, but you don’t want it to be so large that posing and holding different positions for any length of time becomes taxing. Plus, an early delivery might mean we miss the shoot all together! PRght around 30 weeks your belly gets really round, but it’s not too heavy yet. Of course each pregnancy and pregnant belly is different so use your own stamina as a guide.
2. Pick a good location to paint and shoot.
We can paint your belly in our Hartford studio, your home, a photography studio, or virtually anywhere! Ideally, while belly painting we’ll want a space where we can control the temperature, get comfortable, and isn’t too far away from the photoshoot location.
3. Consider your clothes
While we’re belly painting, you’ll want something warm and comfy. If you need to be transported to a location, you’ll want something loose that won’t smudge the paint. (Don’t worry, we’ll seal it before you put a shirt on, but it’s good to plan ahead!) Finally, during the maternity shoot, very few women choose to go totally nude. Thinking about what might look best in that location is something you should talk to your pregnancy photographer or belly painter about.
4. Research belly posing ideas
Close ups, pictures of big sister kissing your belly, profile shots… there are a lot of great pregnant belly painting photography ideas out there! Feel free to bring references of belly photo shoot ideas you like to show your photographer and belly painter. Some may work better than others (and some may not work at all), but if you have an idea in mind, references can help your professionals achieve your vi
sion!
5. Find a great photographer, and a great belly painter.
If you think hiring a professional is expensive, just wait unit you hire an amateur! Cheap belly painting kits may not be FDA-approved, unlike our cosmetics. A bad photographer could botch the whole shoot and depending on how long is left in your pregnancy, you may lose your chance to capture the moment at all. Hire a great team, and we will do great work for you.
